The Whitecaps are halfway through the 2013 MLS regular season, so let’s take a look at the good, the bad and the future of this current season.
The little Brazilian has turned into a goal scoring machine. He is currently tied for 2nd in MLS scoring with 10 goals and including all competitions he is at 13 goals. He is a shoe-in on penalty kicks and his freekicks have turned into one of the most dangerous in the league.
Lack of clean sheets
The Whitecaps keepers Brad Knighton and Joe Cannon have 2 clean sheets in 19 games. Their GAA are amongst the worst in the league (Knighton 1.57GAA, Cannon 1.40GAA). With it looking more and more like Cannon is done for the season, the starts are Knighton’s to lose. With Ousted waiting in the wings for his chance to start it should be great competition moving forward.
Half way through the season and the Whitecaps find themselves in a good place in the table. They can’t afford a finish like they had last season. With no major roster changes this season, it looks good moving forward. The Caps can make a statement by continuing to earn points on the road. Vancouver are in control of their own destiny and it’s up to them to finish strong.
