This weekend, the Vancouver Whitecaps will be taking on Chivas USA at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. The Goats are on the rise as they are undefeated in three straight matches and are coming off of a 4-1 win away to the Chicago Fire. Chivas have arguably been one of the most impressive sides so far this season and will be looking to add another tally to their win column.

The most recent match between the Caps and Chivas was last year in the second last match of the season at BC Place. The final score in that match was 4-0 for the Whitecaps.

Highlights from the last match between the Whitecaps and Chivas USA:

These two sides have met a total of four times in the Whitecaps’ two year existence in the MLS. In those 4 games, the Whitecaps are actually undefeated against The Goats, recording two wins and two draws.

Whitecaps’ Keys To The Match

  • Execution: I know that I say this almost every match, but it still is a lingering problem that has not been fixed. The Whitecaps were lucky to get victories against TFC and Columbus in my opinion and they paid the price of poor finishing against Houston. If the Whitecaps want to get a good result against a rising Chivas side then they must finish their chances.
  • Stronger Defending: The primary reason for the Dynamo’s two goals last week was poor marking in the box. Both goals came from crosses and both times Caps defenders lost their marks and were caught ball watching. Chivas have some talented attackers in their squad, such as Juan Agudelo and the Caps defenders must be at their best to shut them down.

Final Prediction

Whitecaps 1 – Chivas USA 0
