Starting XI

1.) How is the ankle feeling?

Omar: “Foot is feeling good. Just hoping that it all goes well on my recovery back. Its been a long struggle to get it right.”

2.) What is your favorite city to play on the road in the MLS?

Omar: “Portland for sure. The atmosphere is amazing. The crowd the stadium, the fans are what soccer is all about.”

3.) What teammate do you spend the most time with off the pitch?

Omar: “Erik Hurtado. We have been roommates the past few trips and we have become close.”

4.) You are a part of a group of young exciting forwards for the Caps. How fun is it to be apart of that group?

Omar: “Yeah, there’s a great group of young players on this team that can contribute already. Its going to be a healthy battle for a starting spot.”

5.) Who is faster: yourself, Mattocks, Manneh or Hurtado?

Omar: “I think Hurtado is the fastest.”

6.) Who is your favorite soccer player of all time?

Omar: “Lionel Messi. He’s just incredible. Nobody else like him.”

7.) Who is the best player you have ever had as a teammate?

Omar: “Davide Chiumiento. Great guy and an amazing player. Unfortunate that he wasn’t able to stick around a little longer.”

8.) Who is the best player you have ever played against?

Omar: “David Beckham. Everyone always forgets how great of a player he is because of all the spotlight around him but he is a great, great player.”

9.) How would you describe your time in Vancouver so far in your career?

Omar: “It’s been a great time. I love the city, the fans, they have all been great.”

10.) What do you think of Chivas USA’s new “Latino-only” policy put into effect by Jose Luis Sanchez Sola?

Omar: “Chelís is a very well respected coach in Mexico. He knows what he is doing. Nobody knows right now. I hope it works out for them.”

11.) What would it mean to you to bring a MLS Cup to Vancouver?

Omar: “It would be a great honor for the city of Vancouver. They deserve it.”

Extra Time

12.) What was your favorite soccer team growing up?

Omar: “Real Madrid. Still is.”

13.) You have a Spanish passport. What do you think of the way Messi is dominating in La Liga?

Omar: “Messi is out of this world. He is the best player in the world.”
