Ji-Sung Park and the Vancouver Whitecaps

20130304-155554.jpgIf you did not already know, Whitecaps defender YP Lee has a close connection with fellow compatriot and former Manchester United midfielder Ji-Sung Park. Park is without a doubt a Korean football legend and one of the best Korean players to ever take the pitch. So what are all the rumours with him being connected to the Caps? Let me explain.

Ji-Sung Park was originally linked with Toronto FC, mostly because of the recent hiring of Ryan Nelsen who came from QPR where Park currently plays. It is said that the Whitecaps own the discovery rights to Park meaning if TFC wants him, they will have to negotiate with the Caps first.

In an interview with The Province newspaper, YP Lee said this:

“Last week I was talking with Ji-Sung Park actually,” he said.

“If I can, I will bring another good Korean player. Must be much better than me.” [1]

It is hard to say where he is most likely to sign, if he does make the big move to Major League Soccer, as Park has connections at both TFC and the Whitecaps. Easy enough to say that he will be warmly welcomed if he chose to sign in Vancouver (as unlikely as it may be).
