It is official, the much rumoured signing of ex-EPL midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker has gone through. After turning down multiple offers from clubs all around Europe, Reo-Coker decided Vancouver was the place where he wanted to be.

Martin Rennie made comments on the signing:

“Nigel is a leader on and off the pitch,”

“Although he is only 28, Nigel brings a lot of experience to our club and will be a great addition.” [3]

Despite popular belief, NRC will not sign with the ‘Caps as a designated player, although, it is said that he has signed a rather large contract of four years [2]. Once the paperwork has been completed, the Whitecaps will officially announce his signing. It is fantastic to see the Whitecaps attracting talent such as Reo-Coker, this shows positive signs for future signings.

Reo-Coker spoke about signing with the Whitecaps:

“I am very excited and looking forward to this great new challenge in Vancouver. The MLS is a growing league, and growing in stature every year which makes it even more exciting.

I still know the best is yet to come from me as a player. I’m 28 and know there is more to come. I would love to contribute to this growing league and love to help Vancouver win the title.” [1]
