It has been officially announced that the Vancouver Whitecaps have released their Argentine centerback Martín Bonjour. Bonjour scored one goal in thirty-one appearances for the ‘Caps in his one and only season in Vancouver. The 27 year old, native of Carhué, Argentina, came with an expensive price tag of $275,000 and the Argentine leaving will open up plenty of cap space for the Whitecaps.

Bonjour is looking to go back to his former club in Uruguay, Liverpool de Montevideo. In mid-season when the ‘Caps fell into a bad run of form, Martín Bonjour ran into yellow card trouble which made Whitecaps manager, Martin Rennie, start to play Andy O’Brien along side Jay Demerit.

Bob Lenarduzzi spoke about waiving Bonjour: “We are thankful for the contributions Martín made to the club and wish him the best of luck,”
