2013 MLS Superdraft

The 2013 MLS Superdraft took place in Indianapolis today. There was a fair share of surprises, peculiar decisions and brilliant player selections. To catch up on all the happenings of the draft, check out my Twitter page @jakevendramin as I tweeted out all the selections, trades and events at the draft. Prior to the draft, Toronto FC traded away their first overall pick to the New England Revolution. Toronto received the 4th pick from that transaction and then went on to trade that away to the Vancouver Whitecaps. The first round selections went like so:

3. Toronto FC select Kyle Bekker
4. Vancouver Whitecaps select Kekuta Manneh
5. Vancouver Whitecaps select Eriq Hurtado
6. Colorado Rapids select Deshorn Brown
7. FC Dallas select Walker Zimmerman
8. Montreal Impact select Blake Smith
9. Columbus Crew select Ryan Finley
10. Seattle Sounders select Eriq Zavaleta
11. Colorado Rapids select Dillon Powers
12. Real Salt Lake select John Stertzer
13. Houston Dynamo select Jason Johnson
14. Sporting Kansas City select Mikey Lopez
15. San Jose Earthquakes select Tommy Muller
16. Toronto FC select Emery Welshman
17. DC United select Taylor Kemp
18. Montreal Impact select Fernando Mongue
19. Los Angeles Galaxy select Charlie Rugg

That wraps up the first round of the MLS Superdraft, these young players will be going into their first season as professional players this year.
